New Delhi based Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has been witnessing students’ strike for past one week against the hostel fee hike and the regressive draft hostel manual. Hostel fees has been increased by more than 999% from 2700/- (38.20USD) to a whopping 30,100/- (425.88USD) annually (excluding monthly mess bill and newly introduced electricity and water charges).

On Monday, after gathering at the JNU admin block, thousands of students marched to Vasant Kunj police station demanding that a ‘missing’ FIR be filed against the vice chancellor of JNU. They said VC and the dean of students’ whereabouts are not known, as they are hiding and don’t want to talk to the students. The police attempted to stop the students at the university’s West gate, but had to let them pass, as students had gathered in large numbers. #FeesMustFall #JNU
