Unions Fight to Save South African Airways

The Spokesperson of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa, Phakamile Hlubi-Majola, talks about the ongoing struggle to ensure that the national carrier, South African Airways, can be saved. She explains why the unions have stridently opposed a plan to ‘rescue’ the airline presented by Business Rescue Practitioners and questions the logic of the plan. She also details the proposals the unions are putting forward to make sure that the airline and its employees’ interests are safeguarded.
