On December 30, Argentina’s Senate voted to pass the Voluntary Termination of Pregnancy (IVE) bill which legalizes abortion in the country. The approval was celebrated widely both within Argentina and abroad as a decisive victory for the feminist movement that has been organizing for the past 15 years for the legalization of abortion.

Peoples Dispatch spoke to Agostina Betes from the Movimiento Popular La Dignidad and Frente Patria Grande the day after the vote to discuss the impressive struggle waged by feminists in Argentina to win the right and what this victory means for Argentina and the world.
