Peoples Dispatch spoke to Brahim Kharchoufi of the youth sector of Morocco’s Democratic Way about the current situation in the country and resistance of the people across Morocco.

This weekend, on March 22, 23 and 24, the youth wing of the Democratic Way is holding their 5th Congress in Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Despite repressive measures by the city to deny them access to the room that they had reserved with the necessary paperwork and had paid for, the organization was able to find an alternative space to continue onward with their historic congress. The organization denounces the “serious violation of freedom of organization and of action, fundamental elements of political rights, themselves bases of individual and collective human rights” and “points to the abuse of the Makhzan administration, a regal political component, which is contrary to the Moroccan constitution even in the current state of its extreme limits”.
