We are being told that the average citizen’s vaccine hesitancy resulted in the delay in beginning the vaccination process in India, and that is why we have such poor vaccine coverage in India. The truth is that even if the target population of senior citizens and 45+ adults with comorbidities had to be covered then we would have needed at least 540 million vaccine doses. That is three times the total doses administered till now. It is poor planning that has caused India’s vaccine crisis.
