Hawaiian activist Kawenaʻulaokalā Kapahua speaks to Globetrotter’s Vijay Prashad on how the US Navy has poisoned the largest water source on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. This public health disaster has been years in the making, as the Navy’s fuel tanks have been leaking into Oahu’s water supply on a regular basis for decades.

Kapahua also talks about how conditions on Hawaii have worsened since the US overthrew the island government in 1893 and occupied a third of its land, including a rapid rise in pollution and food imports.
