Gawkadal massacre in Kashmir

According to survivors, more than 250 people were killed in the firing.

On January 21, 1990, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), an Indian paramilitary force opened fire on a group of Kashmiri protesters at Gawkadal bridge in Srinagar, Indian side of Kashmir. Gawkadal massacre is considered to be one of the worst massacres in Kashmiri history” along with the Bijbehara Massacre in 1993. According to survivors, more than 250 people were killed in the firing. No action was taken against the CRPF personnel responsible for the massacre.
