A cultural icon from Kashmir and one of many attractions for tourists, the houseboat sector finds itself overlooked by the tourism department. Amid a repair ban, damaged houseboats in the lakes of Kashmir are sinking. The repairing of houseboats has been banned as it supposedly contributes to the pollution in the Dal lake.
