Women rise up in Turkey against 21-year-old’s rape and murder

Femicides and attacks on women have been increasing across Turkey along with the rise in religious conservatism under Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s govt.

Women’s rights groups organized demonstrations across Turkey to protest the brutal murder of 21-year-old Azra Gülendam Haytaoglu. Azra was a student of journalism at Akdeniz University. She went missing for five days before her body was discovered in a forest.
