Tunisians took to the streets in capital Tunis on Sunday, September 26 against president Kais Saied’s recent move to take over substantial executive power in the country. They demanded that either the parliament be reinstated or fresh elections be conducted as soon as possible.
Tunisians mobilize against president’s autocratic decisions
Most of the political groups in the country are divided on Saied’s move, with some of them openly supporting it and calling it a much-needed “reform process” in the country. However, leftist parties in the country, such as the Workers Party, opposed president Saied’s move calling it a coup.
