Electricity employees and engineers across India will observe a National Protest Day on June 1, to oppose the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020. It is being led by the National Co-ordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE), a broad based united platform of almost all the national federations of electricity employees and engineers. The proposed amendment will give more power to private players in the power sector and comes at a time when the country is combating the COVID-19 pandemic, with stakeholders unable to properly respond to the Bill.
