French students hit the streets demanding justice for Anas

Anas set himself alight outside the building that houses the regional student aid center in the city of Lyon. Anas’s suicide attempt was reported to be because of his dire financial situation.

Hundreds of students took to France’s streets on November 12th in solidarity with Anas K, a 22-year-old student at Lyon University, who attempted suicide on Friday, 8th November. Anas set himself alight outside the building that houses the regional student aid center in the city of Lyon. Anas’s suicide attempt was reported to be because of his dire financial situation. Members of Communist youth organisation MJCF and Communist students organisation UEC, along with members of the student union Solidaires, of which Anas is a member, also took part in the protests.
