After hurricanes and earthquakes, the COVID-19 pandemic is the third major health crisis in Puerto Rico in three years. There have been around 2,300 COVID cases and around 115 deaths in the Caribbean island as of May 14. This crisis is exacerbated in the region because of the historical neglect and because of its colonial relationship with the United States.
