Hundreds of Lebanese citizens took to the streets against the suspension of the investigation into the Beirut port blast. The protests were led by the families of the victims of the blast. Judge Tarek Bitar, who is leading the inquiry, was forced to halt the investigation after accused former Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk requested the judge’s dismissal. The stalled investigation has further reinforced distrust in the government.
