Hundreds of people from Black communities and people’s movements took the streets of Brazil to protest against police brutality on Wednesday, June 1. The protests were triggered in response to incidents of brutal police violence against Black people in the country and the recent murder of Genivaldo de Jesus Santos in the city of Umbaúba, on May 25 by two Federal Highway Policemen.
