Hundreds of people, who had gathered outside the London Central Criminal Court, celebrated the denial of the US plea to extradite Julian Assange. The verdict was a relief to Assange’s family and supporters . However, there were also voices of caution due to the judge accepting most of the prosecution’s arguments.
A victory for Assange but long battle ahead
Assange is currently being indicted in the US for publishing leaked documents on US war crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq, under the infamous Espionage Act.
