Thousands of TSRTC transport workers dismissed for taking part in strike in India

The South Indian state of Telangana, ruled by the center-right Telangana Rashtra Samithi party, has unleashed a massive attack on workers. Around 48,000 employees belonging to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) have been dismissed. The head of the state, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, announced the dismissal on October 6. This was after the workers began an indefinite strike demanding solutions to their problems. Under the leadership of TSRTC Joint Action Committee (JAC), union of TSRTC’s employees and workers, around 49,340 workers have been striking since October 5.
