The protests against police brutality that started on 8 June has been subject to violent police repression in Tunisia. The protests were triggered following the death of a man in police custody who was arrested on suspicion of dealing drugs.
Protests against police brutality in Tunisia met with more violence
The Tunisian League of Human Rights (LTDH) in a statement condemned the violence unleashed by the security forces. They accused the government of prime minister Hichem Mechichi of trying to “silence the voices of protest.”
