Hunger in the world

Launch of the Hunger in the World PDF by seven independent media projects which features stories of hunger and the response of people’s movements in countries across the world

October 16, 2021 by Peoples Dispatch

On the occasion of World Food Day, we are releasing a PDF booklet which includes a series of reports looking at the state of hunger in countries across the world, how the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the situation, and what people’s movements have done to respond to the urgent tragedy. These reports were part of a collaborative series called Hunger in the World. Reporters from seven independent media outlets spoke to communities, organizations, and authorities to understand the situation and bring voices of the people most affected to the fore.

The material includes stories from South Africa, Brazil, India, the United States, Argentina, Morocco, and includes a special speech by Abahlali baseMjondolo’s president S’bu Zikode on food sovereignty from the perspective of the urban poor.

We invite you to read, download, and share this important resource.
