At least 17 coal miners have reportedly lost their lives this year by choking to death inside collapsed coal mines in different areas of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The miserable conditions in mines have led to the death of more than 120 workers in recent months.
Eight miners have died in April alone. According to estimates, mine-related accidents kill between 100 to 200 laborers every year in the country.
38 workers are confirmed to be trapped, with fears of even more buried, inside a makeshift gold mine in Sulawesi in eastern Indonesia, highlighting the dangerous shadow sector of unlicensed mining in Indonesia
