According to Fatiha Briki’s family and the National Committee for the Liberation of Detainees, of which she was a member, the activist was taken into custody on June 17. No reason has been provided by the authorities
Algerian journalist Belkacem Djir acquitted of all charges by Algiers court
34-year-old Djir was accused of ‘blackmail’ and using a ‘false identity’ and sentenced to three years in prison in a common law case. He is now expected to be released soon after over a year in detention
