The transitional government of Sudan and the Malik Agar-led faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North agreed to integrate the latter’s forces into the state’s army, police and intelligence services. But there is a long way ahead

Over the past few days, Sudan has seen the largest demonstrations since December 19. The strategy of the protesters to march to the army headquarters seems to be working as soldiers have come out to defend them against State forces.

The declaration of emergency, by president al-Bashir, came shortly after a parliamentary committee tasked with scrapping presidential term limits cancelled its meetings.
