Women’s protest in Poland

The bill which was voted down in its first reading would have equated abortion with murder and led to prison terms of up to 25 years for those who underwent abortion and those who assisted them

The protests on Wednesday were triggered by the government’s announcement of the publication of the controversial judgment in the Journal of Laws.

The National Women’s Strike in Poland called for countrywide protests after the controversial judgment by the Polish constitutional court banning abortions in case of fetal defects came into effect on Wednesday
