Workers, farmers give the call to “Save India”

On August 9, trade unions and farmers’ organizations across India will conduct a protest against the Narendra Modi government’s anti-worker policies which have intensified during the lockdown

August 08, 2020 by Peoples Dispatch

The protest is being held as the right-wing Narendra Modi government has used the COVID-19 lockdown to enact many anti-worker policies. In the past few months, working hours have been extended, labour laws have been weakened and the government has indicated plans to privatize many state-owned companies. The organizations have demanded that the government stop privatizing public sector enterprises, stop amending labor laws and ensure greater coverage of employment guarantee schemes.
