Israeli security forces shot dead a Palestinian youth in a village in the south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank on July 9, Thursday. The 29-year-old victim, identified as Ibrahim Mustafa Abu Yaacoub, was with his friends when he was shot by the Israeli forces. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival.

The provincial governor of Salfit, Abdullah Kamil, has denied the claim made by Israeli forces that a Molotov attack by two persons led to the shooting in which Yaacoub died. However, according to Kamil, Yaacoub was merely walking with his friends when he was shot.

Every year, scores of Palestinians become victims of unlawful arrests, beatings, torture and killings at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces. Israeli personnel have also been allegedly involved in the killing of innocent Palestinian youth in the occupied territories. Last month, Israeli forces killed 27-year-old Ahmed Erekat in occupied East Jerusalem when he was going to pick up his sister.

Israeli security forces had also killed a 32-years-old autistic man, Iyad al-Hallaq, last month, leading to protests across the occupied Palestine. His murder has been compared with the murder of George Floyd in the US which has led to massive protests across the United States and the rest of the world.

Most of the Israeli security personnel found involved in such crimes are never punished or are released after minor punishments.
