Protests continue in Paraguay demanding resignation of the president

Protests intensify across Paraguay to demand the resignation of the president and his cabinet over the deepenning public health, economic and social crisis

Thousands of Paraguayans have been mobilizing for over two weeks in different cities of the country in rejection of the national government’s mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the deepening of economic crisis and social inequality.

Protests intensified on March 18 when Congress rejected the impeachment of far right President Mario Abdo Benítez, vice-president Hugo Velázquez and the rest of the cabinet in Paraguay.
