United States celebrates Juneteenth

June 19th or Juneteenth is celebrated across the United States commemorating the end of slavery. Juneteenth marks the anniversary of the announcement by General Gordon Granger in 1865, proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in Texas. Today, many remind that while there is much to celebrate, there are many struggles to be fought to end white supremacy and for the full liberation of Black people.
