On Sunday, May 29, tens of thousands of Israeli settlers invaded the al-Aqsa mosque in occupied East Jerusalem. The annual “March of the Flags” takes place on Jerusalem Day, an Israeli-invented event commemorating the country’s 1967 occupation of the city. Settlers were seen attacking Palestinians in several parts of the city. They carried Israeli flags and chanted anti-Arab slogans including “Death to Arabs.” Following the march, Israeli forces and settlers were seen attacking Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah, al-Shufaat refugee camp, and al-Sumoud refugee camp in the old city on Sunday. Palestinian properties were also demolished by settlers.
