The report claims that today, one in every 74 people is displaced due to reasons ranging from war and conflict to climate change. Contrary to the rhetoric of refugees flooding Europe, the majority of them (over 76%) is being hosted by middle or low income countries

This is the third such incident in less than a month in the eastern Mediterranean. In September, close to 100 people, mostly Lebanese and Syrians, had died off the coast of Syria while trying to cross to Europe from Lebanon

For the first time in human history, the number of forcibly displaced people in the world has crossed 100 million.

According to the UNHRC, due to the rise in wars and violence globally, the number of people forcibly displaced has more than doubled since 2012. The numbers are almost equally divided between those internally displaced and refugees

As many as 43,000 refugees crossed over from Tigray into Sudan during the two-and-a half week-long military conflict between November 4-28. They are mainly in the El Gedaref and Kassala States
