The assassination was an attempt to crush the growth of the German revolutionary movement that challenged the regressive state establishment.
Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht, founders of Communist Party of Germany (KPD), were executed by the German Freikorps soldiers a 100 years ago on January 15, 1919.
