Thousands of pensioners from all over Spain took to the streets of Madrid on October 16 and marched from the Puerta del Sol to the Congress of Deputies demanding an increase in pensions and for a dignified life.

Workers have rallied behind the trade union activists who are being prosecuted by the state for participating in a march and allegedly inciting violence. The march was taken out with the demand that the closure of two Alcoa plants be halted
