At least 24 Palestinian people were killed and scores of others injured in a number of massacres committed by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in different parts of the Gaza strip on September 23 and 24.
One of the massacres took place when an Israeli airstrike hit Kafr Qasim School, which was housing thousands of displaced civilians in Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City. Another massacre occurred, when an Israeli warplane targeted a house in Deir al-Balah in the Central Gaza Strip. An aerial attack was launched on a house in Rafah in the southern part of the besieged enclave, and an artillery shelling was launched by the IOF in the town of Khuza’a, east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. An Israeli drone attack was also carried out west of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
The Palestinian Civil Defense crews said that many people remained trapped under the rubble as they were obstructed by the IOF from reaching them. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza announced on Tuesday, September 24, that the official death toll in Gaza has risen to at least 41,467 people with 95,921 others injured since October 7. Many believe that the death toll is likely much higher, with many thousands still stuck under the rubble and others suffering from lack of access to healthcare.
While Israeli massacres have not stopped in Gaza, they also continue to take place in Lebanon. Nearly 600 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon on Monday September 23. During the opening of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned member states on Tuesday, to not allow Lebanon to “become another Gaza”. “The people of Lebanon, the people of Israel, and the people of the world cannot afford Lebanon to become another Gaza,” Gutteres stated. He also denounced the collective punishment of Palestinians, reiterating his demand for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and the creation of a two-state solution.
