Israeli warplanes launched scores of airstrikes on targets at Yemen’s Hodeidah and Ras Isa sea ports in the Red Sea on Sunday, September 29. The airstrikes hit power plants, oil tanks, and other seaports facilities killing at least 5 people including a port worker and three electric engineers, and wounding dozens of others. The aerial attack is the second Israeli attack on Yemeni sea ports in two months, after the attack which targeted Hodeidah seaport on July 20.
According to Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, a senior Israeli official said on Sunday, that the attack on the Yemeni seaports was coordinated with the United States. An informed source also told Al Mayadeen that “the US has given the green light to the Israeli enemy, which is in a state of euphoria, and it must bear the consequences of that.”
The political Bureau of Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement condemned the aggression against civilian and services facilities in Hodeidah on Sunday, describing it as a blatant violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and an obvious breach of international laws and agreements. “Targeting civilian and service facilities in Hodeidah reflects the confusion and weakness of the Israeli enemy and its backers,” the statement said.
The Israeli aggression on Yemen’s seaport sites was condemned by the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Nasser Kanaani in a statement on Sunday. Kanaani said that the aggression indicates the inhumane nature of the Israeli occupation. He further blamed the United States for providing unconditional support to Israel, accusing it of being a full partner in the atrocities committed by “the criminal gang ruling Tel Aviv”. In addition, the Iranian official urged the international community to stand against Israels’ rampant lawlessness, and warned about the consequences of the warmongering and incendiary actions by the Israeli occupation, which jeopardize regional and international peace and security.
Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla also condemned the Israeli latest attacks on Palestine, Lebanon and Yemen in a post on Sunday, “We condemn military movements by Israel, with support of the US, and its bombings of Palestine, Lebanon and Yemen, which encourage large-scale war in [West Asia].”
