The US and Israeli bombings of Iran’s nuclear sites violated basic tenets of nuclear non-proliferation, ironically demonstrating to countries pursuing independent development the need to build nuclear deterrent.

Iran slammed Germany and other European countries for violating its commitments to the NPT and international law, after they failed to condemn Israeli and US attacks on its nuclear sites last month.

Iran has maintained that the IAEA resolution questioning its cooperation with the agency is politically motivated and was adopted under the pressure from the US, France, Germany, and the UK

Several Arab and Middle Eastern countries underlined the need of a nuclear free zone in the region, and claimed that Israel’s continued refusal to join disarmament regimes remains the biggest hurdle in achieving the same

Israel reportedly refused to adhere to the advise of its closest ally, the US, to not attack Iran’s nuclear sites or scientists in the future and give diplomatic channels a chance

China too slammed the move calling it an “extremely irresponsible” act which may lead to an arms race. It also said that the move reflects “Cold war mentality and ideological biases”  

Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif, in an interview with CNN, said that talks about nuclear weapons in the western media is baseless speculation aimed at directing public opinion against the country
