Tejal Kanitkar, Associate Professor at the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bengaluru in India and a researcher on climate change, speaks about the global climate strike that took place on September 20.
This protest is a part of the series of demonstrations that have been taking place in Belgium and across Europe demanding action on climate change.
The strike took place in around 1,769 places in 112 countries around the world. Some of the demands were the imposition of climate emergency , including youth voices in policy-making and lowering the voting age to 16.
The call for the protest was given by two students who were inspired by 15-year-old climate activist Greta Turnberg from Sweden, who addressed the climate summit in Katowice in Poland.
