In today’s episode of the Daily Round-up we look at a landmark public hearing held by the Special Jurisdiction for Peace on the Colombian military’s role in civilian killings in 2007-08; rising levels of acute food insecurity and mass displacement in the Horn of Africa as the region faces one of its worst droughts; an order issued by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to halt the execution of 53 year old Melissa Lucio who was convicted of killing her daughter in a widely-condemned trial; and the killing of at least 4 Syrian soldiers in an Israeli missile attack near the capital of Damascus.
