At least 53 people have been killed and 200 others injured over the weekend in a recent series of Israeli airstrikes, attacks which targeted Deir al-Balah in Central Gaza and Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Most of the airstrikes hit different parts of Khan Younis, killing at least 23 people and injuring dozens of others on Friday, July 26. According to Al Jazeera, the airstrikes were conducted before the Israeli occupation forces dropped evacuation order leaflets on the targeted areas, and prior to calling or texting residents there to evacuate.

On July 27, Israeli occupation fighter jets targeted a field hospital within the Khadijah School, in Deir al-Balah, killing at least 31 people and injuring more than 100. The Palestinian government media office in Gaza announced on Saturday that at least 15 children and 8 women were among the people killed in the deadly attack.

While the Israeli occupation forces falsely claimed that the airstrike targeted a command center of the Palestinian Resistance Movement (Hamas) inside the Khadijah school, Hamas claimed that, “the occupation uses this blatant pretext to commit the most heinous crimes against humanity and innocent civilians.”

The resistance movement also blamed the United States for providing a cover for Israeli crimes against Palestinian civilians. “The occupation continues to commit massacres against civilians without any deterrence and with criminal cover provided by the American administration,” Hamas said.

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza announced on Saturday that with the recent massacres during the last 24 hours, the death toll in Gaza has been taken up to at least 39,258 people in the 9-month-old Israeli occupation aggression on the besieged strip.

The ministry’s announcement comes one day after the United Nations stated that more than 180,000 Palestinians have been displaced from central and eastern Khan Younis, fleeing Israeli airstrikes between Monday and Thursday last week.

The humanitarian crisis has been deepening in Gaza on all levels, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to brag about his crimes against humanity in front of the entire world, the last of which was during his speech in front of the US Congress on Wednesday, July 24. Instead of complying with the International Criminal Court’s charges and pending arrest warrant against Netanyahu, the US Congress welcomed his speech and rewarded him with a standing ovation.
