Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement announced on Sunday, September 15, that it attacked an Israeli military target in the central city of Jaffa, occupied by Israel since 1948, with a new long-range “hypersonic” ballistic missile that holds the name “Palestine 2”.
The spokesperson of Ansar Allah-led Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said in a televised statement: “Our Rocketry Forces carried out a special military operation targeting a military objective in the Jaffa area of occupied Palestine.” Saree explained that a new hypersonic ballistic missile, which covered a distance of 2,040 kilometers within a 11:05 minutes duration, was used in the operation hitting the target successfully, after the defenses of the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) failed to intercept or counter it.
Ansar Allah’s spokesperson also clarified that the missile attack was part of the fifth phase of escalation against Israel and that Ansar Allah will carry out further upcoming strikes and special operations as the first anniversary of the October 7 attacks is approaching. Yemen has continued launching attacks against Israel in spite of geographical barriers, as well as American and British aggression on Yemen, and their surveillance, espionage, and defense systems.
The head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas Yahya Sinwar addressed Ansar Allah leader Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi in a message on Monday. Sinwar expressed his thanks to Sayyed Abdulmalik for his firm support during the Al-Aqsa Flood battle in his message, congratulating him on the success of the missile attack that targeted Jaffa on Sunday, which reached deep into the Zionist entity, bypassing all layers of defense. “The heroes of the beloved Yemeni army have excelled in developing their military capabilities enabling them to reach deep into the usurping entity,” Sinwar said.
Abu Obaida, the military spokesperson of Hamas, hailed Ansar Allah’s attack in statements posted on his channel on Telegram on Sunday. Abu Obaida praised the nature of the weapon used in the operation, as well as the target and other details offered by Ansar Allah, which represent “a game-changing shift that will have important repercussions on the course of Al-Aqsa Flood battle.”
Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement also praised Ansar Allah’s attack on Monday, stating: “The strike accurately hit its targets under complex military conditions, exposing the weakness and vulnerability of this temporary entity on all levels,” referring to Israel. The statement added that: “The courageous decisions by Yemen’s honorable leadership to respond to the Israeli aggression reflects the unified stance of the Axis of Resistance across all fronts.”
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed that the missiles and weapons of Ansar Allah, including the missile used to attack occupied Jaffa, have been manufactured thanks to the technologies owned by the Yemeni movement and were not provided by Iran. Pezeshkian also emphasized in his statement that his country shares a common vision with Ansar Allah with regard to supporting Palestinians in their struggle against Israel.
Although the Israeli authorities did not announce that any casualties were caused by Ansar Allah’s attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened Ansar Allah and other fronts affiliated to the Axis of the Resistance in the region that they will pay a “heavy price” for the attack, which Netanyahu connected to Iran.
“We are in a multi-arena campaign against Iran’s evil axis that strives to destroy us,” Netanyahu stated. “They should have known by now that we exact a heavy price for any attempt to harm us,” he added, indicating the attack that was launched by Israel on Yemen’s sea port of Hodeidah last July as a response to a drone attack carried out by Ansar Allah on Tel Aviv earlier.
On Monday, September 16, Ansar Allah announced that its air defenses shot down a US-manufactured MQ-9 drone in Yemen’s central province of Dhamar. Brigadier General Yahya Saree commented on the incident in a televised speech later on Monday, stating that “the drone was carrying out a hostile mission, and it was targeted with a locally-made surface-to-air missile”. Saree also highlighted in his statement that the drone that was shot down in Dhamar, is the third to face the same destiny within a week and the tenth of the same type since Ansar Allah launched their operation to support Gaza.
The recent developments at the Yemeni support front occurred, while the whole region has been raging to curb Israel’s brutal hubris. Israel has killed tens of thousands of people in Gaza, West Bank, Yemen, Lebanon and Syria. Massive destruction, and countless, horrific crimes against humanity were also committed by Israel in the mentioned areas, and have been documented by the United Nations and other human rights organizations within less than one year now.
