Public sector employees across India strike against govt’s priva …

From March 15-18, public sector employees in India demonstrated and went on strikes against privatization and disinvestment. The Narendra Modi-led BJP govt in India announced a target of achieving disinvestment worth Rs. 1.75 trillion (~USD 24 billion) in this fiscal year. Trade unions and farmers unions also protested in solidarity against the Modi-led govt’s plans of large scale disinvestment.

South African students intensify protests against historical debt

Students’ protests in South Africa have intensified following the killing of Mthokozisi Ntumba, a bystander, by the South African Police Services (SAPS). Since March 15, students across SA have been on the streets to implement a shut down of all higher education institutions following the call issued by the South Africa Union of Students (SAUS). They are demanding clearance of all historical debt of students and end to police brutality against protesting students.
